Police sergeant drowns in Henry Co., Iowa | News

An Ames, Iowa police sergeant drowned Sunday afternoon in a southeast Iowa lake.
It happened around 4:00 p.m. at Lake Geode in Henry County.
The Henry County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a possible drowning near the lake’s boat ramp. After about two hours, rescue crews recovered the body of 51-year-old Sgt. Howard Snider.
It is unclear what happened to cause Snider to drown. The investigation into Snider’s death continues.
Snider had been with the Ames Police Department since 1989 and was the supervising sergeant for the Safe Neighborhoods program.
